I graduated from King’s College London. As well as my position at The Harley Street Dental Studio, I also underwent my dental core training at The Eastman Dental Hospital, UCL Hospital and The Great Ormond Street hospital in Oral and maxillofacial surgery.
One of my passions is mentoring young dentists for their life after university especially interviews and core professional development. Shivana has written the only dental book of its kind published in this field. I also love giving back to all students and have taken an honorary lecturer role at the Dental Institute of Guys, King’s & St Thomas’ in London.

I am a big advocate for prevention and keeping healthcare optimum. To avoid awful toothaches and stocking up on pain medication or antibiotics it is always best to schedule dental visits in advance preferably every six months. This can help avoid those horrible toothaches that can affect your daily routine. If you have tooth pain ensure you have a dentist do a full assessment and help you in your time of year and better yet plan together for the future to ensure you do not experience this pain again.
Do not be shy of bleeding gums! Share this information with your dentist and be specific! Make a note of when it occurs, how it occurs and what tools you have put into place to help revitalise your gum strength. Bleeding gums is more common than you think and very manageable to treat. Bleeding gums can be a sign of a greater gum issue so it is a very important sign to pick up upon. The main cause of bleeding gum is the buildup of plaque at the gum line. This will lead to a condition called gingivitis, or inflamed gums. Plaque that is not removed will harden into tartar. Make sure you and your dentist tackle this together before it leads onto a more irreversible process.
Let us make dentistry fun again! Trips to the dentist is a huge milestone for our younger generation.

Jey was a DF1 student not knowing her potential and wanting to choose the best career path for her, wanting to study at the Eastman. Shivana helped Jey achieve a place at Eastman and her advice together helped Jey rank within the top 10% of applicants.
“The advice Shivana has given me has been invaluable. She has put in a great deal of time and effort in helping me determine, which path to follow after my foundation year. Her help during my dental core training interview achieved me a hospital placement at The Eastman Dental Hospital. Her honesty, selflessness and commitment is admirable. I cannot thank her enough.” – Jey Aziz
It was a great pleasure to have taught Shivana. Her enthusiasm and love of dentistry was evident very early on. She was keen to help her colleagues and was adored by her patients. Professionalism was always at the core of all her actions. She always placed her patients interests first and acted as a perfect role model for her peers. Since graduating Shivana has demonstrated a huge commitment to her profession. She has written several articles and a Text Book alongside myself to help undergraduates prepare for Dental Foundation Training. She is an avid attender of conferences and courses. Her energy knows no limits and her resilience will ensure her rapid success.

Shivana is an inspiration to her peers, and clear winner in her category. She is a committed and compassionate dentist, who builds rapport easily with patients and colleagues easily, and she is passionate about developing her clinical skills as well as her commitment to the dental profession through active charity work in the UK and abroad in Ghana. Shivana is resilient, determined and hardworking, and these personal skills have most certainly helped her get to where she is today, so early in her career. Her articles in The Young Dentist magazine are engaging and current, and I look forward to watching Shivana inspire other women within Dentistry to step up to leadership roles as she has.
